Cabinet Refacing in North Olmsted Ohio
What’s in a name? Would a kitchen in North Olmsted be the same if the city had any other name?
It probably would be. After all, your kitchen wouldn’t simply change on its own if you changed the name of the city it’s in.
If you gave your house a name but then changed it, or even if you gave your kitchen a name but then changed that, would it alter the state of the cabinets therein?
Not likely. But what could change the state of the cabinets in your North Olmsted home? American Wood Reface knows that answer, and we hope you’ll soon see what it is.
Kitchen cabinet refacing, of course!

What’s in a Name?
North Olmsted ultimately owes its name to Captain Aaron Olmsted of Connecticut. (And no, despite the spelling error that frequently rears its ugly head, the name of the city really is “North Olmsted” and not “North Olmstead.”)
Captain Olmsted was a Revolutionary War veteran and wealthy investor who purchased the land upon which North Olmsted now sits from the Connecticut Land Company in 1795.
Although the captain never lived in what is now North Olmsted, he did visit the area. It was not until after his death that his name was given to settlements in the township. (The township was originally called “Lenox.”)
His son, Charles Olmsted, offered to send the residents some books from his late father’s collection if they agreed to change the name of the place to honor his father. They complied with his request, and he dutifully sent them the books in return.
These volumes traveled by oxcart from Connecticut, arriving at their new home somewhat damaged by the journey. Despite their less-than-perfect condition, the residents kept them and circulated them among themselves.
Some of the original books from this “Oxcart Library” can still be found on display in North Olmsted, at the North Olmsted Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library.
Cabinet Refacing for Your Kitchen
Just as the residents of what is now North Olmsted were happy to change the name of their settlement to get their library, you should consider the benefits of kitchen cabinet refacing.
After all, these early North Olmsted residents got to keep their land and all of the good things they loved about it while still gaining books.
Kitchen refacing allows you to keep your kitchen and all of the things you like about it while changing out some of the older aspects of it. It’s also the most cost-effective way to upgrade your kitchen.
