Complete Cabinet and Crown Molding Transformation

Kitchen after cabinet refacing by American Wood Reface

Dealer:

American Wood Reface – Medina, Ohio

Project Location:

Uniontown, OH

Project Scope:

The homeowners like the overall layout and style of their kitchen, but they weren’t happy with the quality and color of their cabinets. Because their cabinets were in reasonably good condition and they wanted to avoid any additional costs that are often incurred with tearing out and replacing cabinets—such as repairs to flooring, tile, and trim—cabinet refacing was the obvious solution. Refacing also added the benefit of being able to complete the renovation in about one week, which the homeowners were very enthusiastic about.

Project Solution:

After working with the homeowners to figure out what style of cabinet doors and type of wood would suit their style, they decided on hickory cabinets with square, shaker frame, flat panel doors and drawer fronts. In order to really let the natural beauty of the hickory shine, they decided on a clear finish.

Our team refaced the cabinets by installing 1/4″ solid wood overlay on all the outward-facing components and then installing the new, custom-made cabinet doors and drawer fronts. We use only the highest quality wood for all of our refacing projects to create durable, long-lasting cabinetry. Learn more about why wood grade matters for your kitchen cabinets.

In addition to the new cabinet doors and drawer fronts, we also installed new traditional crown molding above the cabinets as well as beadboard on the sides of the kitchen island—both elements in coordinating hickory wood—for a finished, cohesive, and upscale look.

Project Highlight:

These homeowners’ previous cabinets were not of the highest quality, but they did like the fact that the crown molding on top of the cabinets offered some visual interest and sophistication, and wanted to be sure the crown molding was carried through to their new cabinets. We installed traditional crown molding in hickory wood to stay true to the kitchen’s transitional style. Because many of the cabinets are staggered in height, the crown molding helps give them a finished and polished look.
