American Wood Reface Medina, Ohio
These homeowners were tired of the off-white tile floors, white tile countertops, and old white cabinets. Together, all of these elements in variations of white come together as a bland, cold, and outdated kitchen design. The family craved quality materials for their kitchen that would create a warm, inviting space with plenty of room for family gatherings and food preparation.
Our team drastically changed the layout of this kitchen to open up the space and replace the awkward peninsula with a large kitchen island. Countertops were updated with Ubatuba granite, which provides a beautiful contrast to the new flooring. Cabinets were refaced in solid cherry wood and updated with modern, flat panel doors for a contemporary look, topped off with satin nickel hardware that coordinates perfectly with the new stainless steel appliances.
In order to really highlight the large island that was added, we hung three sleek pendant lights above it that also coordinate with the hardware and appliances. Under cabinet lighting was added to help illuminate the rest of the workspaces and the beautiful, neutral backsplash. Other high-end elements like the backsplash focal point design and the lattice wine rack above the refrigerator give this kitchen a custom look that’s unique to this family’s home.
The homeowners wanted to maximize the workspace in their kitchen and create a place where the family could gather. We added in a large island to offer plenty of space for preparing food that would eliminate the need for the peninsula and a kitchen table, with the added convenience of a second sink that meets the family’s kosher requirements. Drawer banks were also added to the kitchen island cabinet layout to maximize storage.
