A Solid Plan

Of course, Lewisville is a town that knows all about meticulous planning. This can be seen in the admirably deliberate actions taken by town leaders to preserve the essence of what has always made Lewisville the Lewisville its residents know and love.

The Piedmont Triad community of Lewisville celebrated its 150^th anniversary in 2009, despite the fact that Lewisville wasn’t actually incorporated as a town until the relatively late date of 1991.

European settlers had passed through what is now Lewisville as early as the 1770s, and the community was established in the 19^th century, largely by Moravians who traveled the Great Wagon Road.

The namesake of Lewisville was a man named Lewis Laugenour, who donated land to the community for development in its early days. Laugenour’s home, dating from the 1850s, still stands in Lewisville today.

Town leaders decided to incorporate Lewisville in 1991 in order to be sure that they could guide the growth and the development of their community and retain its “small town feel.”
